novels set in London
As you might know I will visit London this year. So I thought it would be a good idea to 1. search for books which are set in London and 2. write a blog post in English. A few years ago I had an English blog but only for a short time. I can’t even remember what the blog was about!
Although I’m in an English class at school and one of my final exams will be in English too I’m not used to write in English – at least freely like here.
I’ve also never been in an English-speaking country. So this will be my first time this summer! I’m looking forward to this new experience.
So, let’s get back to books. That I love to read english books is no secret. I don’t know why I’m so fascinated by this language. Some words or sentences sound better in English than in German.
I Heart London* by Lindsey Kelk
Bridget Jones’s Diary* by Helen Fielding
The Honeymoon Hotel by Hester Browne (read)
Lovestruck in London* by Rachel Schurig (currently reading)
Oliver Twist* by Charles Dickens (not read yet, but I own a copy)
Sherlock Holmes* by Arthur Conan Doyle (not read yet, but I own a copy)
Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens * by J.M. Berrie
Saturday* by Ian McEwan
Rivers of London* by Ben Aaronovitch
Neverwhere* by Neil Gaiman
About a Boy* by Nick Hornby (read – a few years ago)
Do you have any London travel tips? Maybe you know one or two bookshops I have to visit? Or books I must read?
Oh, and sorry if there are any mistakes in this entry. Nobody is perfect.
